Sparkle Angst

I don't 'usually do these opinion pieces, but this time I'll make an exception. Before I get too ranty, I want to make myself clear - I'm not advocating the intolerance of any particular style, I'm just stating my particular opinion on the subject.

I've always believed that more isn't necessarily better - and that opinion also applies to original characters. Recently there seems to be an influx of these so called 'sparkledogs' or 'candy dogs' or 'rainbow dogs.' Whatever the official term is, I'm a bit unenamored of the concept. As a result, I present to you the two sisters above - on the left we have Miss Sparklypoof Nummy Muffin Cocoa Butter, and on the right we have Miss Mutt.

It is my opinion that form does not equal character, nor do ten million colors and accessories and a tragic backstory equal originality. In that light, I believe that Miss Mutt has much more potential as a character than her rainbow counterpart. In fact, I'm pretty sure given a voice, Miss Sparklypoof would express that she was very jealous of her sister.

There, I've said my piece. Feel free to agree/disagree if you wish, but please do so respectfully and legibly.

And if anyone lifts this, I will have a long and hearty guffaw.
