Friogeists

Harvestmoon wandered over to her aunt, who was curled on one of the larger rock outcroppings in the area. The young wolf was bored. Everyone else was asleep or busy, it seemed.

"Aunt Selene?" Harvestmoon checked herself before she headbutted her elder's hindquarters. It was just as well, because Selene was not alone. "Oh!"

A tiny pup was curled up beside Selene. "Oops," Harvestmoon said, sheepishly. "Sorry."

Her aunt regarded her serenely, an expression that Harvestmoon found her wearing more often than not recently. It must have something to do with being a mother. "Don't worry, he's fast asleep."

"H'lo Marcus," Harvestmoon murmured, peering over her aunt at the bundle of fur. What looked like glowing dust motes were slowly drifting in the sunbeams around the three of them. "Oh! Look, Friogeists!"

"Yes, they've been gathering recently, every time I bring him outside," Selene said. "Much like they did with you," she added.

Harvestmoon giggled. "Maybe you should've named him 'Magus' instead," she joked. "Attracting magic like that."

I think it took me longer to submit this then it did to draw and color. I blame computer issues, mostly.

Friogeists are interesting little critters. Nobody's sure if they're conscious entities or not, but they tend to congregate around magical energies. They're pretty common in the area where Harvestmoon's family lives, so they're a familiar sight to them. Wolves don't usually become mages in their own right (though this race does have some intrinsic magic abilities - woo I love worldbuilding), though there are some who do, and so tend to attract these little glowing creatures.
